¡De película! Descubrieron un océano a 600 km de profundidad

Científicos y geofísicos de EE.UU y Canadá, están reinterpretando aquella teoría de que el agua de la superficie provino de cometas congelados que hace millones de años impactaron nuestro planeta. La nueva hipótesis intenta desplazar la creencia dominante, sugiriendo que tal vez el agua provino del interior de la Tierra como parte de un ciclo integral. Las investigaciones plantean que el agua en el planeta pudo haber surgido desde su interior, brotando hacia la superficie por mediación de los incesantes movimientos tectónicos y de una intensa actividad geológica.

Bajo el manto de la Tierra, en una zona de transición entre capas, a más de 600 kilómetros de profundidad, fue hallado este inconmensurable depósito acuífero que contendría el triple del agua que se encuentra en los océanos.

La noticia es una carta de esperanza en un planeta donde más de la mitad de sus fuentes están contaminadas. Sin embargo la tecnología de avanzada no podría aprovecharse del hallazgo, ya que la profundidad excede los recursos científicos que se encuentran a nuestro alcance.

No sabemos cuánto tiempo tardaremos en viajar hacia el centro de la Tierra; sabemos, sí, que es responsabilidad nuestra la de garantizar el cuidado del agua. 

Este tesoro acuífero no deja de ser una promesa. Los humanos aún tendremos que depositar nuestra confianza en los próximos desarrollos tecnológicos, en espera de que un día podamos perforar la tierra para alcanzar aquella fuente fabulosa de agua dulce. No sabemos cuánto tiempo tardaremos en viajar hacia el centro de la Tierra; sabemos, sí, que es responsabilidad nuestra la de garantizar el cuidado del agua con la que hoy contamos, según publica El Espectador.com

Scientists discover an ocean of fresh water over 600 kilometers deep in the Earth

Once again the visionary Jules Verne was right, when more than 150 years ago he imagined a huge ocean in the center of the Earth. The Myth of Agartha, that underworld located inside the planet and inhabited by other sentient beings, regains its figure after a huge pool inside the earth’s subsurface was discovered.

Scientists and geophysicists from US and Canada are reinterpreting a theory which sustains that surface water came from frozen comets that hit our planet millions of years ago. The new hypothesis tries to shift the dominant belief, suggesting that perhaps water came from inside the Earth as part of a complete cycle. Current research suggests that the water on the planet could have arisen from within, gushing to the surface by means of ceaseless tectonic movements and intense geological activity.

Under the mantle of the Earth, in an area of transition between layers more than 600 kilometers deep, an immeasurable aquifer reservoir was found, which could contain three times the water found in the oceans.

The news is a message of hope in a world where over half water sources are contaminated. However, advanced technology would not be able to exploit the finding, since the depth exceeds all scientific resources that are within our reach.

This liquid treasure continues to be a promise. As humans we still have to put our trust in the coming technological developments, hoping that one day we will be able to pierce the earth to achieve that fabulous source of fresh water. We do not know how long it will take to travel to the center of the Earth; what we do know is that it is our responsibility to ensure that the water which we now have is protected and used mindfully.
